All That Jazz 4-20-18
Hey Everyone! My name is Mckenzie Ostertag! This article is all about Dance and more dance! If you want to learn about dance or different exercises, this is the place to come! Every month, I am going to have a different theme of dance!
The theme for this month is…drumroll…..Acro!
*cheers
Now lets talk about Acro dance! Okay, so Acro dance was first started in the 1900s. Wow! It was first started in Canada and the United States! Acro dance routines normally all include hand walking, Front arieal, Valdez, and one hand front. I honestly have non of those ability's! XD Acro dancers normally use jazz shoes to dance with. They also sometimes wear foot paws. They also normally wear flexible and form fitting costumes or clothes. Acro is normally put into the category of competitive dance. Acro is a dance where you show your flexibility and a lot of stunts. It is normally with faster music and not slow music! The stage of dance floor is normally a little bit softer than the normal stages or dance floors. It is a lot like gymnastics but with dance in it. Gymnasts normally depend on the mat or padding down below them to keep their feet cushioned but Acro dancers depend on their foot wear. A lot of the stunts they use is with there hands or elbows. You can do it as a solo or a trio.
Here is the website I used for all of my facts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acro_dance
Here is a really cool acro dance with the theme that almost all of us know, The Hunger Games!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7kPXK-74Us
This month I am going to do an interview with Jackson Temple! He doesn't really go to a dance place but he loves dance just like so many of us! I decided to interview him just about dance. Instead of always talking about the same dance I wanted to just talk about dance.
What dance do you do? I don't do a specific type of dance I just put on a song and improvise one.
What is your favorite part about it? I really like being able to move my body in a fluent and fast way making a dance routine.
What advice do you give to the people that want to start this type of dance? You don't have to be the best dancer in the world just do your best and have fun doing it.
What is the hardest part about it? Staying with a fast beat, it gets really hard when you are dancing to a fast song.
How long have you been doing dance? I have been dancing for like 2 years.
What is your favorite routine you have done? I don't do a routine for a song it's different every time I dance it.
Where do you go to dance? I don't do classes.
Have you done any competitions or shows? No I haven't, I just do it for fun.
Now for the exercises! Yay! Okay, so to start off before you do any of the exercises, STRETCH! It is so important to stretch before you do exercises. I am going to have two exercises for this month. We are going to start off with an exercise for strength, then the next one will be for more flexibility. Then after that, we are going to look at some pretty funny jokes!
Now for the exercise. This exercise is going to help you have a strong stomach and strong legs. To start off find open space of the floor. Now sit down with your legs bent and grab hold of your knees. It should look kind of like you are doing the bike in the air. Lift your feet up and and your waist up go down. You will go down then go back to your feet. Do this about ten times then raise it up five times every time. Here is a picture to to help you understand a little bit.
Do you want to hear some cheesy, but funny jokes? XD I did not come up with these jokes, these are all from google! Hope you enjoy!
What dance do all astronauts know? The moonwalk.
Why do ants dance on jam jars? Because the jar says 'twist to open'!
Where did the hamburger go to dance? At the Meat ball
What do ballerinas run on? Batterie power!
How do hens dance? Chick to chick!
I hope you guys liked this months edition! Did you like the exercises? Did you like the jokes? Did you like the verse? What about the interview? I want to give a big shout out to Carolyn Sie for helping me think of a theme for this month, and Jackson Temple for doing the interview!
